Fermion connected chemists at the 6th Nordic Process Chemistry Forum
In total 67 chemists and chemical engineers came together to listen to 14 excellent lecturers about relevant topics in process chemistry on May 21st-23rd 2014. Orion’s head office in Espoo acted as venue the first day and the two following days the activities took place at Dipoli Congress Center, located nearby at the campus area of Aalto University.
Theory and practice met in a relaxed atmosphere during the event. A wide range of topics was presented and discussed and the scale varied in the lectures from kinetic studies in NMR tubes to large industrial manufacture of 1000 tons of multi-step synthesis products per annum. The Forum had managed once again to attract keynote speakers not only from the Nordic region, but also from the global space like Dr. Hans-Jürgen Federsel from AstraZeneca, United Kingdom, Dr. Rolf Hilfiker from Solvias, Switzerland and Dr. Chandra Ramarao from Avra, India. Other keynote speakers were Professor Petri Pihko from University of Jyväskylä, Finland and Mr. Hans Petersen from Lundbeck, Denmark. The enthusiasm this time spurred the delegates also to arrange a poster session at the evening of the first day.
The networking opportunities and social activities were appreciated by the delegates especially as the weather was good during the tour to the old fortress Suomenlinna, located on an isle in front of Helsinki. Feedback from participants has been positive and next is a citation from the company Chemnotia, “With this mail, we just wanted to briefly thank you again for the splendid arrangements during the Nordic Process Chemistry Forum. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent lectures, covering a range of relevant areas, the opportunities for networking, the venue, and the social arrangements – beautiful location, great food, and you even arranged optimum weather! This will be a tough act to follow for those who organize the next NPCF”.
The organizing committee is grateful to all participants and all other contributors and wishes everyone a great and enjoyable summer.
